Mobile advertising company Blyk comes to Belgium

Blyk, a company that offers free sms and call credits in return for mobile advertising, is introducing their services in Belgium.  The concept already proved very successful in Great-Britain, where the target of 100.000 members was reached in just 9 months, 6 months earlier than projected.  At the end of the year, Blyk will be available in Holland and earlier this week, it was announced that Belgium, Germany and Spain would follow. 

Blyk is targeted mainly at young people between 16 and 24.  When the youngsters subscribe, they need to indicate which products and brands they like. They then receive a SIM card with a certain amount of free SMS messages and call credits.   In return they receive mobile advertising messages from their favorite brands.  Marko Ahtisaari, Blyk’s head of brand & design: “The advertising expenses are very important for us.  Belgium is among the top 3 of these expenses. Naturally, the countries where we introduce our services need to be open to such a new concept.”
