SMS record expected at Memorial Van Damme

While the athletes, participating to the Memorial Van Damme that takes place at the Koning Boudewijn stadium in Brussels this Friday, hope to break new records, there might be another record set at the event.

Belgacom is expecting some 130.000 SMS messages, which would be double of last year’s mobile traffic.  To allow the 60.000 crowd to communicate, the mobile infrastructure has been enlarged enormously.  Belgacom has used as parameter the peak traffic at the Madonna concert in Werchter, last July.
The 3G capacity has been doubled as well, since some 10.000 3G calls are expected.
