Discover the HUMO iPad App with its brand new Social TV Companion

Today, HUMO released its long anticipated iPad app. The app was developed on the MobileWeb Mobile Publishing Platform.

Download the app now for free in the App Store!

The popular magazine comes to the Apple tablet with a distinct features set, containing three sections:

–          Media Screen, covering the best of HUMO

–          Social TV, your social TV companion

–          Magazine, your HUMO on iPad

After opening the app, you will land on the Media Screen containing the best of Humo’s website articles, with a focus on the TV content. All articles are brought together under topics such as TVreviews, Actua and Video. When tapping on one of them, a flipreader opens which makes it very easy to consume. Moreover, every article can be shared via facebook, twitter or email; recommended articles appear on the right side of the screen. Humo fans will also enjoy the typical content Humo stands for such as ‘Uitlaat’ and ‘Cartoons’.

In the brand new Social TV Guide, HUMO reinvents itself on the iPad. With the Humo app at your fingertips you can discuss, comment and criticize with other peers who are watching the same programs. Also let your twitter and Facebook followers know what you are watching so that they can join you. Very original is the frameset that has been developed to browse through TV programs. Next to the TV guide you will find ‘now on TV’, ‘Popular programs’ and ‘Humo’s selection’ which enables you to discover new interesting programs.

Finally, a Humo app wouldn’t be a Humo app without the Magazine. The app offers the complete magazine in a smooth high quality pdf . Subscribers of the paper magazine can download the iPad version for free, non-subscribers can buy the digital magazine for 2,39€.

After launching De Standaard and NRC Handelsblad, another publisher benefits from MobileWeb’s Publishing Platform to get their content on the tablet. If you wish to receive more information about the MobileWeb Publishing Platform and services, please send a mail to contact@mobileweb.be.

MobileWeb launches De Standaard on Android

After the ‘Komen Eten’ app we are launching a second app this week: De Standaard on Android. In 2009, De Standaard was the first Flemish newspaper with an iPhone app. One year later, they were also the first with an iPad app. Both apps developed by MobileWeb counted for 23.000 paid downloads. The Android version is based on the iPhone app and adapts itself to the many different Android mobile phones and tablets.

The app is available for 3,99€. In this package, five newspapers are included for free. Next to the newspaper content, the online news is just a few clicks away. These articles can be shared easily via Twitter, Facebook or mail.

Also subscriptions are integrated: 15€ for a month and 159€ for a full year. Single copy sales are not possible yet due to limitations in the Android Market.

Related to this launch Samsung offers a special promotion. If you have a Samsung phone or tablet you can download the app for free in the Samsung store from march 11th until april 11th.

First game app for iPhone, developped by MobileWeb

MobileWeb.be has launched a new iPhone app, called the Missing Number Game.  This is the first game app that we have developped, mostly to further extend our knowledge and expertise of the development of mobile apps and the submission into the App Store.  The game itself consists of an IQ test, where you have to complete the numerical sequence.  The users who solve the sequences in a minimum of time can reach the top 25 of highest scores.

Missing Number Game is available as a free download in the Apple App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/be/app/missing-number-game/id328299810?mt=8

Nu.nl : more pageviews for App than for Web

Dutch news site Nu.nl reports a shift of web traffic from their mobile website to their mobile apps for iPhone and Android.

In November, the traffic on the Nu.nl mobile site saw a 20% decrease to 20 million pageviews.  However, traffic on their mobile applications saw a rise.  The iPhone app is by far the most popular; numbers for Android are still rather insignificant.

In the Netherlands, about 2,5 million people log onto the Internet via their mobile phone every month.  About half of all mobile phones sold with a subscription is a smartphone.
